Happy Hanukkah!

This evening at sundown begins the Jewish celebration of Hanukkah.

Hanukkah (also spelled Chanukah or Hanukah), also known as the Festival of Lights, is an eight-day Jewish holiday beginning on the 25th day of Kislev according to the Hebrew calendar, which may fall anytime from late November to late December. It celebrates the rededication of the Second Temple at the time of the Maccabee rebellion. The festival is observed by the kindling of lights on each night of the holiday: one on the first night, two on the second, and so on.

Happy Hanukkah to our Jewish students, faculty, and staff!

- For the people of Bangladesh devastated by a cyclone; for those who died and their families; for those who are homeless

- Sr. Karen Elliott requests prayers for Ron Gard, Sr. Karen's sister-in-law's father, who is in ICU in Colorado and is critically ill and for Dolores Mrowczynski, Sr. Karen's first cousin, who was recently diagnosed with a terminal illness.

She is allergic to so many medications, and is beginning treatment with a drug of last resort called Vancomycin via IV. The prognosis is not good for her, so she kindly requests prayers for her. She believes the prayers from the Mercy College family in the past have helped her conquer her illnesses. She is only 58.
